WARLESS - A furiously fun, reggae-tinged musical hybrid dance-a-thon that beams positivity through intimate stories of the beautiful west coast. Powerfully rooted in funky beats and ripping guitar licks, Warless will get you moving and grooving with their socially conscious sound.

CARACAS - Formed in East Van by Venezuelan brothers Javier and Victor Badillo, Caracas is defined by upbeat, melodic, syncopated Latin-influenced original punk rock with a penchant for genre crossovers. Compared to bands like The Stranglers, Pixies, Talking Heads and White Stripes, the Badillos previously played in seminal Malaysian punk rock band LyMe, learning from and influencing a generation of Malaysian DIY punks.

MELLOMANIAC plays a mix of rock, folk, reggae and funk with soulful, interweaving vocals and dynamic, original songs.
A group of friends who've been playing music together for ten years, they have a collective passion for music and a collaborative approach to songwriting, resulting in carefully crafted songs that touch on the common themes of our lives.

. Saturday, June 6th IMU presents The UNKNOWN SOLDIERS A Celebration Of The Doors, RUNNIN' DOWN A DREAM Tom Petty Tribute & The WALK-INS @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Show 9:30pm / $10 cover

The UNKNOWN SOLDIERS come amazingly close to replicating the music of THE DOORS note for note while capturing their raw energy through each band member's interpretation, combining to deliver a groovy reproduction of a live Doors show that keeps audiences in a head-bobbing, toe-tapping trance. Their singer's Morrison-esque look, vibe and baritone voice combine with swirling organs and deft musicianship to captivate and transcend time and place, allowing audiences to be transported back in time to experience a taste of live shows that are now a part of rock mythology.

RUNNIN' DOWN A DREAM (Tom Petty Tribute) - Mark Ingram started Runnin' Down A Dream in 2009 as a way to introduce new fans to the music of one of the greatest songwriters in rock and roll while entertaining existing fans with familiar hits and standout rarities. This kick-ass band of experienced musicians will blow you away with their high energy takes on classic Tom Petty songs like American Girl, Free Fallin' and Mary Jane's Last Dance, not to mention a song or two from the Traveling Wilburys, Mudcrutch, and Petty's Live Anthology.

The WALK-INS - Featuring members of The Unknown Soldiers, Top Drawers & Captain Dust, The Walk-ins have conspired together to create a new musical concoction that seems strangely familiar yet somehow alien. Some say it's blues, some say it's rock or even urban folk... perhaps it's all three mixed together in a musical blender and seasoned with a dash of grit and grind and a hint of grunge. So sit back and let the Walk-Ins fill your body and soul with the eternal sounds of their musical madness.

. Friday, June 26th IMU presents The FLAIRS, The JAMIES, CHINA SYNDROME & BUBBLE11 @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Show 9:30pm / $10 cover

The Flairs rock the stage once again! After an extended hiatus, the band is coming together to rip the roof off, joined by rockin' bands The Jamies from Calgary and Vancouver's China Syndrome &
Bubble11!

The FLAIRS deliver catchy, hook-laden rock songs sweetly flavoured with honeyed vocals over edgy power chords and frenzied beats that harken back to the days of '70s punk and '80s hard rock. In their heyday, the band opened for INXS, toured with David Lee Roth, and played to massive crowds in Indonesia supported by MTV Asia.

Inspired by the likes of Veruca Salt, Nirvana, Garbage and Stone Temple Pilots, the band features former members of Tuuli and Bif Naked's band skillfully blending youthful spirit and undeniable talent into a dynamic sound that's fast, loud and extremely addictive!

The JAMIES are a Calgary-based new wave indie pop band showcasing dual keyboards, driving drums and bass, and passionate female vocals that range from powerful and energetic to evocative and contemplative. Landing Top 10 college radio play across Canada with their 2013 debut, their new album Time features experimentation with bold sounds and structures to build cohesive layers of modern synth pop and new wave nostalgia.

CHINA SYNDROME
is a melodic rock band from Vancouver who combine driving pop hooks in the vein of XTC and Teenage Fanclub with liberal dollops of classic rock influences augmented by angular funk grooves, psychedelia and other aural surprises. Their new album "The Usual Angst" was recorded and produced at Vancouver's JC/DC Studios by David Carswell (New Pornographers, Tegan and Sara) and praised by The Georgia Straight as "infectiously jangly" with "fantastic, hooky guitar".

BUBBLE11 - Shipwrecked space travellers crashed out in the bubble of the western world, Bubble11 transmits opaline sounds into eleven-dimensional hyperspace via electrically-generated, loud, cordant/discordant instruments and nostalgia for a lost future of wide iridescent skies, jet packs, and whirling silver saucers hovering over transparent domed cities. Resultant phenomena largely feature synthetic transportation songs from the punk pop universe fused by a dream of alien love and universal peace.

. Tuesday, June 30th IMU presents SC MIRA w/ MOUTFUL OF DAISY & MATTHEW MEI & guests @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Show 9:30pm / $10 cover

SC MIRA's musical tapestry is a seamless blend of upbeat, atmospheric and incredibly hooky folk, rock, indie pop and alt-country. Their live show boasts the urgency and intensity of a thunderstorm with a fresh take on fiery folk rock that's dark, dazzling, eerie and elegant, fronted by richly emotive female vocals that are simultaneously sweet and sinister. Based in Winnipeg, they've played to thousands at MTS Centre, toured extensively with Buck 65 who makes a guest appearance on their forthcoming album produced by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire), and made impressive showings at NXNE and the Mile Of Music Festival, where they were joined by Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins) who quickly became a fan.

MOUTHFUL OF DAISY delivers a unique blend of powerful, female-fronted alternative rock that combines haunting, angelic vocals with catchy, melodic guitar riffs, smooth bass lines and relentless driving beats.

With songs that stick around long after you've heard them, their refreshing musical approach appeals to a wide range of listeners.

MATTHEW MEI - Drawing from childhood exposure to folk, gospel and church music along with later preferences for blues, alternative and jazz, Matthew Mei brandishes a charismatic blend of blues, rock, folk and hip hop. Having traveled the world as the son of a preacher man, his initial introduction to the world of music was his dad's old records, but it was his struggles in life and his soulful growth that fueled his desire to write emotional and heartfelt songs that channel the highs and lows of human experience.
