. Wednesday, December 31st IMU presents NEW YEAR'S CARNIVAL! BIG JOHN BATES, REVEREND HEATHEN STRANGEFELLOW & The VAUDEVILLE VAGABONDS + DEVIL IN THE WOOD SHACK @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Show 9pm sharp! $20 door / $15 adv tickets @ Railway Club, High Life, Zulu, Red Cat Records & online here!

Come one, come everyone to the Railway Club's New Year's Eve Carnival Spectacular! Thrill to the wild, post-apocalyptic, outlaw rock noir of Big John Bates! Experience the internationally acclaimed musical cabaret extravaganza of Reverend Heathen StrangeFellow and the VaudeVille Vagabonds as they unleash an awe-inspiring production of epic proportions! Drink to the stellar prohibition-era drunkabilly with Devil In The Woodshack! Don't miss this one of a kind New Year's Eve celebration!

BIG JOHN BATES crafts a southern gothic landscape drowned in atmosphere and resurrected in fire, spinning dark cabaret, rustic blues and alternative country into a sound that could be described as Americana Noir. With blinding intensity and spellbinding stage chemistry, his band's awe-inspiring, bass contorting, stage jumping, sparks-a-flying live performances have been riveting audiences throughout North America and Europe.

REVEREND HEATHEN STRANGEFELLOW & The VAUDEVILLE VAGABONDS
is a gypsy rock circus show with live music, exotic belly dancers, contortion, sword swallowing, clowns, audience game shows and even werewolves fighting Mexican wrestlers! Musically inspired by the likes of Gogol Bordello and Tom Waits, the shows are akin to a grass roots Cirque du Soleil in the form of a swing/rock band with coed vocals and instrumentation including standup bass, accordion, clarinet, baritone saxophone and drums. "Acrobats, monsters, belly dancers, a Riverboat Queen, and the best undefinable and amazing music I've experienced in decades!" -- J Andrew Banks (journalist/photographer)

DEVIL IN THE WOOD SHACK is a six-piece acoustic band with unapologetic honesty and more intrigue than a well told story! Their members hail from opposite ends of the country, forging a gypsy, western, pirate punk sound that's raw and untamed, straight from hell riding on drunken angel wings.

. Saturday, January 17th IMU presents MASSY FERGUSON, The FEVERCOAT, The WALK-INS & The MILK PIPES @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir / Show 9:30pm

MASSY FERGUSON is a band that plays music perfectly suited to dark, crowded rooms where there's at least the possibility of a pint glass hitting the wall. Their songs are filled with barflies, broken hearts and doomed late-night romance, with an Americana sound that leans toward Southern roots rock and melodic alt country, invoking Drive-By Truckers, Son Volt, Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty and early Springsteen. Touring in support of their latest album "Victory & Ruins", the band has graduated from farmers markets to some of Seattle's most prominent stages, the Iceland Airwaves Festival and Watershed Festival at The Gorge. (10:30)

THE FEVER COAT - Drawing from a diverse range of influences, The Fever Coat delivers powerful songwriting and an intense live show. Based in Vancouver, their debut EP "Blood Void" was recently mixed by Ryan Dahle (Age of Electric/The Mounties/Limblifter). (11:30)

The WALK-INS - Featuring members of The Unknown Soldiers, Top Drawers & Captain Dust, The Walk-ins have conspired together to create a new musical concoction that seems strangely familiar yet somehow alien. Some say it's blues, some say it's rock or even urban folk... perhaps it's all three mixed together in a musical blender and seasoned with a dash of grit and grind and a hint of grunge. So sit back and let the Walk-Ins fill your body and soul with the eternal sounds of their musical madness. (12:30)

The MILK PIPES - Raw, raucous and irreverent, The Milk Pipes are everything rock and roll should be, delivering honest songs played straight from the gut with courage, conviction and a joyful and reckless abandon. Tube amps and classic guitars slash against a solid rhythm section punch while ukelele and keyboard underpins the whole cacophony with delicious counter melodies. (9:30)

. Saturday, February 7th MU presents VAGABONDS, WHITE BLOOD CELLS & guests @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir / Show 9:30pm

VAGABONDS
- Starting out as a five piece cover band whose members all originally hail from Ireland, Vagabonds have become a regular fixture on the local music scene with a live show that bursts with energy on every occasion. They play contemporary rock with a Celtic twist and at least ten different instruments between them, mixing traditional Irish favourites with songs by the likes of The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Prince and Arcade Fire.

WHITE BLOOD CELLS is a Vancouver-based tribute to The White Stripes, one of the leading bands of the post-2000 garage rock revival. Intensely executed with heavily distorted power chords blasting a blasphemous noise, White Blood Cells honour the spirit of the Stripes with their explosive, minimalist, authentic blues rock.
